Classic match
West Ham United 3-1 Sunderland
Premier League
21 October 2007
Carlton Cole was on target on this day seven years ago as West Ham United left it late to defeat Sunderland 3-1.
Cole's ninth minute header from a George McCartney cross, which looped over Craig Gordon in the visitors' goal, gave West Ham an interval lead, although Sunderland came roaring back after half time.
Roy Keane's side were level six minutes after the game's resumption, when Kenwyne Jones rose highest to meet Grant Leadbitter's cross with a downward header which gave Rob Green no chance.
Leadbitter then struck the post, but West Ham introduced Luis Boa Morte and Nolberto Solano from the bench, and the pair combined to retake the lead 12 minutes from time, Solano's shot striking the base of the post and finding the net via the heel of the unfortunate Gordon.
In injury time Craig Bellamy made sure of the points when he drilled home following a Boa Morte cut back.
