Joint-Chairman David Sullivan has offered his condolences to the families affected by Saturday's plane crash
West Ham United Joint-Chairmen David Sullivan and David Gold were due to fly up to Sunderland to support the team before tragedy struck.
One of the planes they regularly travel on was involved in a serious accident, with the two people on board both killed. Here, Mr Sullivan explains what happened and offers his condolences to those affected.
David Gold and I were due to fly to Sunderland with our usual company, London Executive, on Saturday morning.
There are two King Air planes at Stapleford Airport that we regularly use and one of those was the one that crashed. I would say we've flown on that plane about 50 times. On Saturday we were due to fly on the other plane but our flight was abandoned after the first plane crashed.
We still managed to make it to Sunderland via another flight but when we heard what had happened, it really put everything into perspective.
Although the team did fantastically to fight back from two goals down to maintain our unbeaten away form, our overriding thoughts really were for the two people killed when the plane crashed.
Our deepest condolences go out to the friends and families of those affected by this tragedy. It was simply down to Lady Luck that we were not on that plane as well.
