Charlton Athletic 4-4 West Ham United
Premier League
19 November 2001
West Ham United battled out a thrilling 4-4 draw with Charlton Athletic on this day fourteen years ago.
Paul Kitson was the man in form, notching a hat-trick for Glenn Roeder's side, although Charlton were also on fire in front of goal.
Kitson gave the Hammers a third minute lead, before Jason Euell scored the first of a quickfire double on 21 minutes.
Suddenly, West Ham found themselves behind, but Kitson was soon on target again to level by the half-hour.
Six minutes after the break Jonatan Johansson gave Charlton the lead for the second time, but Kitson was there again to make it 3-3 on 64.
West Ham then edged in front themselves through Jermain Defoe's 84th minute goal, but Johansson ensured the points would be shared with his last gasp equaliser in a breathless game.
