West Ham United 2-1 Aston Villa
Premier League
4 November 2009
West Ham United left it late, but they recorded a dramatic victory over Aston Villa at the Boleyn Ground six years ago today.
Zavon Hines was the Hammers' hero, scoring a last-gasp winner to give West Ham their first home win of the season and lift themselves out of the bottom three.
Mark Noble put West Ham in front on the stroke of half time, converting a penalty after Hines was fouled by Habib Beye.
Villa had the chance to level with a spot kick of their own four minutes after the restart, but Rob Green kept out Ashley Young's penalty, only for the same player to strike three minutes later.
West Ham would not be denied though, and after Beye was red-carded for a second booking, Zines compounded their misery when he clipped over Brad Friedel.
