Classic match
West Ham United 4-1 Birmingham
Division One
3 November 1923
The Hammers were getting into the swing of their first ever top flight season when they welcomed Birmingham to the Boleyn Ground on this day 92 years ago.
It was the start of a double-header against the Blues, with West Ham due to play the return fixture a week later, and they ensured they held the early bragging rights with a four-goal blast.
William Moore, Frank Richardson, William Brown and George Kay all hit the target on a successful afternoon for the Londoners.
Moore would finish as the Club's top scorer that year with ten, although he would draw a blank seven days later as Birmingham hit back with a 2-0 win themselves.
The pair would be locked together at the end of the campaign too, as West Ham finished in 13th with the Blues one place below.
