West Ham United players tell West Ham TV the identity of the the toughest opponent they tackled during the 2014/15 season
In the second of our entertaining West Ham TV Season Review features, the Hammers squad members reveal the Hardest Opponent they faced in 2014/15.
With players embroiled in one-on-one battles all over the pitch, the range of answers given by the players gives an eye-opening insight into the Barclays Premier League’s standout performers.
Centre-backs Vincent Kompany, Phil Jagielka and Jose Fonte and midfielders Yaya Toure, Cesc Fabregas, Willian and Oscar all got honourable mentions, but it was Chelsea and Belgium playmaker Eden Hazard got the vote as the best player the Hammers faced last season.
“The hardest opponent we have faced this year has got to be Eden Hazard,” said Nolan. “The reason he got the PFA Award this year was because he deserved it. He was fantastic at their place on Boxing Day and was very good and scored the goal at Upton Park, so he made the difference.”
“I’d say Hazard,” agreed Hammer of the Year Aaron Cresswell. “I think he’s been fantastic this year and has got everything to be one of the best players in the world.
“I’d certainly put him in the top five at the minute. He’s got everything – he is fast, he is strong, he is powerful and he is skilful.”
