Shaka Hislop
Born: 22 February 1969, Hackney, London, England
Clubs: Reading, Newcastle United, West Ham United, Portsmouth, West Ham United, FC Dallas
Shaka Hislop's initial four-year spell with West Ham United came to an end on 27 June 2002, when the Trinidad and Tobago international goalkeeper decided to follow former Hammers manager Harry Redknapp to Portsmouth.
The then-33-year-old had joined Redknapp at the Boleyn Ground in 1999, having earlier started his professional career with Reading before moving on to Newcastle United in 1995.
The 6'6 goalkeeper made an outstanding start to his time in east London, producing a consistent series of displays that saw him voted Hammer of the Year for the 1998/99 season - a campaign that saw West Ham finish fifth in the Premier League table.
A broken leg suffered in the famous 5-4 home win over Bradford City curtailed Hislop's progress the following season, but he recovered in time to take his place between the sticks at the beginning of the 2000/01 campaign. The signing of David James provided competition in 2001/02 and, at the end of that season, Hislop opted to leave the club on a free transfer.
After three years with Portsmouth, Hislop returned to east London and helped the newly-promoted Hammers to finish ninth in the Premier League and to reach the FA Cup final, where they were edged out by Liverpool on penalties. Subsequently, Hislop joined MLS team Dallas FC following the 2006 FIFA World Cup finals, where he faced England. He is now a television pundit.

William Kaine
Born: 27 June 1900, East Ham, London, England
Clubs: Sterling Athletic, West Ham United, Tottenham Hotspur, Luton Town, Bradford City
Born in East Ham on this day in 1900, William Kaine started his football career with Dagenham-based Sterling Athletic - a team formed by the sports and social club of the Sterling Telephone and Electric Company in 1911.
Kaine's form for Sterling Athletic tempted West Ham United to secure his services in 1923, but the young goalkeeper found opportunites hard to come by due to the presence of former No1 Ted Hufton and Tommy Hampson, who became first-choice at the start of the 1923/24 season.
The local lad remained patient and was rewarded with a first-team debut in a 2-1 Division One defeat at Nottingham Forest on 18 October 1924. Kaine would keep his place for the 2-0 home win over Burnley the following weekend before Hampson returned to the side.
Five further first-team appearances arrived in March and April 1925, but Kaine decided to try his luck elsewhere in the summer of the same year, joining Tottenham Hotspur. He found a similar situation at White Hart Lane, making 12 appearances during the 1925/26 campaign before leaving north London for Luton Town after just a single season.
Kaine later turned out for Bradford City. He passed away on 3 November 1968 in Beckenham, Kent.
