West Ham United striker Diafra Sakho wants to make a big impression under new manager Slaven Bilic next season and hopes to get among the goals straight away in the Europa League next week.
Sakho enjoyed a memorable first season in the Premier League scoring 12 goals but was forced to miss the final part of the campaign after he suffered a thigh injury during the 1-1 draw with Stoke back on 11 April.
The Senegal forward has been working hard throughout the summer to regain full fitness and was able to join up with the squad for the first day of pre-season training this week, before flying out to Ireland for a training camp.
With West Ham back in action on July 2 when they face FC Lusitans in the first qualifying round of the Europa League at the Boleyn Ground, Sakho says he cannot wait to get back playing again and hopes to be among the top scorers next season.
Sakho said: “I am fit for the start of the season. I was given a programme to follow over the summer and I will be ready for the first game.
“I enjoyed my first season in England and next season I would like to score 20 goals.
“I am happy to be back at the club and see all the players and the new arrivals. I know we are coming back earlier than normal but I am pleased to be back in action.
“I am really looking forward to playing under Slaven Bilic and excited to see what he will bring to the team.
“It is great for the club to be back in Europe and it is one of our objectives. The players are excited to be playing in the Europa League.”
