The hard work continues in Cork

West Ham United’s training camp in Ireland continued on Wednesday with a full day of training.

The squad were put through their paces in an intense session on the pitches in the morning, which included sharp ball work and 11v11 drills.

After lunch, the players then moved onto the gym, where they could work on their strength and conditioning in the run-up to the UEFA Europa League first qualifying round tie against FC Lusitans.

Hammers defender Doneil Henry takes us through the day…

“For me, today was a day when I was on the field less and more about getting into my stride, and getting back into my sprinting form," he explained.

“Then we went into the gym and I worked on strengthening my hamstring and getting back into regular form before slowly integrating myself into full training on a daily basis.

“It’s what pre-season’s all about. Coming together as a team and getting the fitness in. We work with the coaches, find out their system of play and do the dirty stuff – digging in, getting deep and trying to win matches when the season starts."
