Tomkins ready for European adventure

James Tomkins is pleased the Club have avoided a long journey across Europe after West Ham United were drawn to face Andorran side FC Lusitans in the first qualifying round of the Europa League.

Tomkins was back for the start of pre-season training having made a full recovery from a dislocated shoulder which kept him sidelined for over two months at the end of last season.

The 26-year-old is now relishing the chance to work under new manager Slaven Bilic and is looking forward to playing European football this season.

Tomkins said: “We could have ended up playing anywhere so Andorra is not too far to go. It is a draw we are going into as favourites but it will be a great experience to play in Europe. It is exciting and all the players are looking forward to it.”
