West Ham United coaching assistant Julian Dicks had nothing but praise for the players after they produced another hard-working display against Charlton just 48 hours after a number of players travelled back from Malta.
The games are coming thick and fast for the Hammers and following the penalty shoot-out win over Birkirkara in the Europa League, the West Ham players were back in action once again and managed to keep a clean sheet at the Valley.
The Hammers could have won the game after Diafra Sakho came close on several occasions while new signing Dimitri Payet produced another impressive display.
Dicks is relishing being back at the Club as part of Slaven Bilic's new backroom tream and is full of optimism as we prepare for the big kick-off against Arsenal in the opening Premier League game on August 9.
Dicks said: “I thought it was a decent performance and the lads worked really hard. The lads can be pleased with themselves.
“Sakho had a few chances and Payet makes things happen. When you are playing in the Premier League you have to break with pace and hopefully we will have that in abundance.
“We landed at Stansted Airport at 4am in the morning but the players didn't moan about it. They got on with their job and work really hard in training. As a coach that is all you can ask for."
