Melbourne-born Serbia and Montenegro international goalkeeper Sasa Ilic today celebrates his 43rd birthday.

His professional career began in Bosnia with Borac Banja Luka, but he made his name following a 1997 move to Charlton Athletic. He became a regular between the posts for the Addicks in the latter half of the 1997/98 campaign, keeping a record 10 clean sheets in a row.

That run came to an end in the Division One Play-Off final with Sunderland, which Charlton won on penalties after a pulsating 4-4 draw.

He lost his place in the Addicks' team to Dean Kiely after their relegation from the top flight the following year and was loaned to the Hammers in the winter of the 1999/2000 campaign.

His one West Ham appearance came in a 4-0 Boleyn Ground Premier League defeat to Everton on 26 February 2000, and he returned to Charlton for a further three years, before ending his career by moving from Portsmouth to Hungarian side ZTE and then back to the UK with Barnsley, Blackpool, Aberdeen and Leeds.
