FC Lusitans general secretary Diogo Festa cannot wait to welcome 450 West Ham United fans to Andorra for Wednesday’s UEFA Europa League first qualifying round second leg.
The Hammers contingent will descend on the picturesque Estadi Comunal d’Andorra la Vella as the first English club side to play in the principality – and that will be a proud moment for Festa and his countrymen.
He explained that the benefits this tie will bring to his Club are manifold and his players – many of whom combine football with their regular jobs – have relished the experience of taking on the Hammers.
He said: “I loved the experience in London. The supporters were very nice and I enjoyed spending time with them.
“I’m sorry we couldn’t have more of them here, but I hope they enjoy their time in Andorra.
“It’s a great honour for us to have the first club from the Premier League here. It’s great for football in Andorra and it’s good for UEFA too as we’re promoting the game. It’s a great experience and everything is positive.
“The players are very proud of the situation, because they were like warriors for us. Some of them have work in the day, and will be working in the morning before the game on Thursday. Defending our colours, our country is a great honour."
The only place to follow Thursday's game is via live text updates on whufc.com and our social media channels, so stay tuned from 6.30pm for all the action!
