Former Hammers left-winger Malcolm Musgrove was born on this day 82 years ago in Lynemouth, Northumberland.
After playing for local side Lynemouth Colliery, he was called up for National Service and signed for West Ham United in 1953 after leaving the RAF.
He made his league debut in 1954 against Brentford and would go on to play 301 games for the club, helping them to the Division Two title in 1957/58.
Musgrove made the short switch to Leyton Orient as a player-coach in 1962 and he played a further 83 league games for the O's before hanging up his boots in 1966.
He went on to have a career in management, taking charge at Torquay United, Connecticut Bicentennials and Chicago Sting. He also coached at the likes of Exeter City, Plymouth Argyle and Shrewsbury Town and retired in 1998.
He passed away in September 2007 at the age of 74.
