It was a 60th birthday to remember for lifelong fan Kieran Murphy who was given the ultimate surprise when he met his Hammers heroes at the Club's training camp in Cork.
Murphy was under the impression he was being taken out for the day, but was shocked to discover that he was actually going to meet a number of first-team players including Hammer of the Year Aaron Cresswell, James Collins and Mark Noble.
There is a strong West Ham United connection in the Murphy household as Kieran's Uncle Tommy Moroney played for the Hammers back in the 1940's and made over 150 appearances for the Club.
Murphy says this will be a day he will never forget and cannot thank the players enough for the warm welcome they showed him after training.
Murphy said: “This is not a bad way for me to celebrate my birthday. I cannot thank them enough for looking after me on my 60th birthday and this is a great surprise.
“I watch them on television and to now meet them in person, they are a great bunch of lads. I met Mark Noble when he was playing for the England Under-21s against Ireland about six seasons ago.
“My Uncle played over 150 games for West Ham in the famous number six shirt. The Boleyn Ground holds a lot of special memories and hopefully we will be able to get over for the final season.”
