West Ham United midfielder Kevin Nolan believes the Club will only benefit from playing in the Europa League this season and feels this is going to be a special season under new manager Slaven Bilic.
Nolan is no stranger to playing in Europe and has plenty of experience having played in the competition with his former club Bolton.
West Ham United begin their European adventure when they host Andorran side FC Lusitans in front of a sell-out crowd at the Boleyn Ground on Thursday night.
And despite being part of the second group who are at a fitness camp in Ireland, Nolan says he will be keeping a close eye on events in east London and hopes for a lengthy run in the competition.
Nolan said: “We have got the Europa League starting and I wish the boys all the best of luck.
“It is going to be tough but it is something we should embrace and learn from. I played for Bolton in Europe for a couple of seasons and really enjoyed it.
“There are a few lads making their debut in European football on Thursday and it is something they should strive on.
“These are exciting times for the Club. There is a lot of competition for places and I'm sure that is what the gaffer wants.”
