We take a closer look at Michail Antonio's performance against Southampton
Michail Antonio's patience since signing for West Ham United in September has been rewarded in recent weeks with a run of four starts in the Barclays Premier League.
And never has his impact been as pronounced as on Monday, when his goal and assist helped the Hammers overturn a deficit to defeat Southampton 2-1.
Antonio, who joined from Nottingham Forest on deadline day, had to watch on from the sidelines early this season as the form of Victor Moses and Manuel Lanzini kept him out of the team,
But, as he gets used to the rigours of the top flight, he has begun to show his ability and manager Slaven Bilic was full of praise for his attitude in the aftermath of Monday's game.
His goal might have been a strange one, as Victor Wanyama's attempted clearance cannoned into him and looped into the net, but it came at the end of a forceful run inside which left Cuco Martina in his wake and showed his direct running at goal.
Then, he got on the end of Enner Valencia's cross to head against the crossbar, with Andy Carroll doing the rest to complete the turnaround,
According to stats website WhoScored.com, only James Tomkins rated more highly than Antonio from either side, with the winger's performance earning a score of 8.0.
That was on the back of a goal, an assist, a game-high three dribbles, three shots and 35 touches,
