Reece Burke played the full game of Bradford City’s crucial 1-0 win over Port Vale. The win, Bradford’s first of the season, came on Burke’s full home debut for the Bantams.
In front of more than 17,000 fans, substitute Devante Cole, who had a trial at West Ham during the summer, scored in the 90th minute much to the delight of the home fans.
The win lifts Bradford out of the relegation zone and into 16th place while Burke has been called up into the England U20 squad to play Czech Republic on Monday 7 September.
Diego Poyet also played the full 90 against Birmingham City as the MK Dons slipped to a 2-0 home defeat.
Despite dominating possession with 68%, it was City, who remain unbeaten this term who secured the three points with two second half goals from Stephen Gleeson and Jacques Maghoma.
Reflecting on the defeat, Dons’ manager Karl Robinson said: “We huffed and puffed in the second half and we got into better positions than we have done all season but we don't want to shoot.”
Now 11th, their next game is away at Middlesbrough on Saturday 12 September.
