Liverpool-born Aaron Cresswell was delighted to be part of a historic West Ham United victory in his home city
Liverpool-born Aaron Cresswell told West Ham TV there is 'no better feeling' than scoring a victory at Anfield.
The No3 bounced back from his own personal horror show against AFC Bournemouth to produce one of a host of outstanding performances as the Hammers scored their first league win at Liverpool since September 1963.
Cresswell laid on the opener for Manuel Lanzini after just three minutes before playing a central role in helping the Hammers keep Brendan Rodgers' side at bay, both before and after Mark Noble and Diafra Sakho had added further goals for Slaven Bilic's team.
"There's no better feeling than coming to a place and a club like this and winning," said Cresswell, who was cheered on by a large contingent from his family, many of whom live in the city. "Fifty-two years is a very long time but thankfully we got the three points.
"A nice early goal is a good start in any game, but regardless of the early goal we had to be on it from minute one until minute 97. I think the last few games we've started well in the first ten minutes, but we didn't score."
For Cresswell, the performance, clean sheet and result were the perfect tonic following an error-strewn 4-3 home defeat by Bournemouth last time out.
"I took full responsibility for last week, which wasn't good enough. Thankfully I've put it right and it's a massive win at Anfield.
"There are always ups and downs in football, but to come to Anfield and not just win 1-0, but to score three goals made it a very special day. All my family were here, so that's always nice and it was a massive win."
