Joint-Chairman - It was a well deserved victory

West Ham United Joint-Chairman David Gold was thrilled to see the Club end their 52-year wait for a win at Anfield and said it was a well deserved victory.

Mr Gold said in the build-up to the game that he was confident the team could get back on the winning trail and surprise all the odds with a victory at Liverpool and he was proved right.

Goals from Manuel Lanzini, Mark Noble and Diafra Sakho made it a memorable afternoon for Slaven Bilic and his players.

But Mr Gold also paid special tribute to the travelling Hammers fans who made the trip to Merseyside and said they played a crucial role in the victory with their magnificent support.

Gold said: “It was a well deserved victory and there was nothing fortunate about it. I cannot tell you how excited I am and we have made history.

“I spoke to Darren Randolph and joked he will not get his wages because he didn't have to make a save!!

“The defence was amazing and it was a well deserved victory. I was delighted for Lanzini and think he is a talent with great skills. He excites us and the fans and I am really pleased for him.

“It was also great to see Mark Noble get on the scoresheet. There was a space there and he slotted it in nicely. I was pleased for him to get on the scoresheet.

“The fans were amazing. They have come here knowing we have not won at Liverpool for 52 years and cheered on the team all the way through the game. They make the difference.”
