On-loan midfielder Diego Poyet played the full 120 minutes for MK Dons as they came from a goal down to beat Cardiff City after extra time in the League Cup second round.
The visiting Bluebirds took the lead through Alex Revell’s goal on the 53 minutes however the Dons clawed their way back into the tie thanks to Carl Baker’s equaliser.
With the game level after 90 minutes, Poyet’s side faced a gruelling 30 minutes of extra-time to determine who would progress to the third round.
Both sides had chances; however it was Josh Murphy, on his Dons’ debut, who scored the all-important winner with 12 minutes remaining.
After the game, the 20-year-old West Ham loanee tweeted: “Great win!! Superb from everyone to win in extra time after being a goal down. On to the next round #COYD”
MK Dons will now play Premier League side Southampton in the third round on Tuesday 22 September.
