Development Squad midfielder Amos Nasha praised his teammates’ work rate as they overcome a polished Manchester City side at the Boleyn Ground on Friday 24 April.
Nasha put in a superb display in the heart of midfield, shielding the Dev Squad back four and breaking down City attacks while feeding the forwards.
Dan Potts’ first goal of the season gave the Irons an eleventh minute lead following superb wing play by Djair Parfitt-Williams before Adam Drury’s own goal doubled their advantage. Olivier Ntcham’s 76th minute goal ensured a nervy finale but the Hammers stayed strong to collect their fourth win of the
season.
Speaking after the Nasha said: “It was a good victory for us because the last two games we all thought we played well but didn’t get the result. Tonight we dug in and thoroughly deserved the win.
“There were a few tired legs at the end. Man City are a good side, we had to compete and battle for everything and I thought we did that well.”
In a challenging season, the Dev Squad have not enjoyed much luck, slipping to narrow defeats to Manchester United and Norwich City when their performances warranted more.
Nasha continued to describe to the mood in the dressing room, having secured the win: “The lads are buzzing, there a few things we could have done better and there’s still room for improvement but we’re all happy with the win.
“I was happy with my personal performance, I was gutted to get injured towards the end, I wanted to finish the game.”
Next up for the Dev Squad is a home tie against Everton at Rush Green on Friday 8 May. Earlier in the season the Toffees secured a 2-0 win over the Irons, something Nasha wants to avenge.
“We have to go again, we can’t dwell on the win for too long. We need to make sure we’re ready for the next game.
“The lads did well to make sure we didn’t let the lead slip like it has done previously. I thought we did the basics right. It was a very well deserved win.
“The atmosphere is great at Upton Park, it’s a better feeling and I think there’s more buzz about us, it helped us.”
