FT: Dev Squad 2-1 Manchester City U21
A fantastic win for the Dev Squad as they hold on to beat Manchester City 2-1. A great display from every man in claret and blue. We'll have reaction for you very soon. COYI!
90+5: Corner to City...yet more dogged defending sees the Irons win a goalkick. Not long left now...More hairy moments, Fernandes swings a foot at the ball from inside the area but it flies wide.
90+3: Mavila trips a City player and will be booked for his troubles. Free kick to City 30 yards out...Pozo takes it and he hits the stantion, that was very, very close.
90+1: Spiegel makes a terrific save to deny Ntcham. A fingertip save from the Swiss who has been excellent this evening.
89: City still camped in the Irons half, Pike puts in a great challenge and Diangana spreads a fantastic ball forward. It eventually comes to Jordan Brown yet Gunn, again, saves his side.
86: Kyle Knoyle is down on his haunches and will be replaced by Sam Westley. Final few minutes to go.
83: Not long to go here, but we've been in this situation several times before this season. City keep on knocking on the door. There are some tired legs out there now. Nathan Mavila is on for Amos Nasha.
80: Tom Holland tries his luck from distance but it is deflected for a corner. Jose Pozo gathers and shots from close range but it skews wide. Nervous moments.
76: Goal for Manchester City. Olivier Ntcham breaks through the back line and slots home coolly past Spiegel. 2-1.
74: Backs to the wall here! City are piling on the pressure yet the defence is standing tall. Makasi puts in a great clearance just as City were about to pounce.
72: Ntcham grabs at a shot just before Alex Pike replaces Joe Ward who receives a warm round of applause.
70: Amos Nasha gets a ticking off for a shoulder charge deemed to be over the top. More great work from the central midfielder.
68: The attendance tonight is 377, a great turnout and show of support for U21s football. Good to see team putting in an excellent performance for the fans!
66: Spiegel makes a great save down to his left to push Jorge Intima's shot wide, good hands from the big goalkeeper.
63: A great chance for Joe Ward who races on to Pask's incisive through ball however Angus Gunn pulls off a great save to keep his side in the game.
60: City make the first change as Joe Nuttall replaces Javair Dilrosun.
58: Stoppage in play as Joe Ward receives treatment after a hefty challenge. The culprit James Horsfield is booked.
55: GOAL!!! 2-0 to the Hammers. Jordan Brown fires a cross along the six yard box which Adam Drury stabs into his own net!
51: Grady Diangana fires a cross which Brown almost gets a touch to, great work from the young winger Diangana there. On the other flank, Knoyle wins a free kick right on the edge of the box...
49: Free kick to City...Pozo dinks it into the box which Page heads away for a corner. The corneris whipped in and eventually cleared.
46: City get us back under way. The Irons are on the attack again, first Jordan Brown tries to get a shot away before Page's drilled cross is cut out. Seconds later and Parfitt-Williams wants a penalty but the referee is not having any of it.
HT: Half time here at Upton Park, A great game so far. City are looking to control the ball while the Dev Squad are fighting tooth and nail for everything. A header for Dan Potts in only his second game back after a lengthy injury seperates the two sides. City are growing into the game.
45: Superb battling by Amos Nasha to recover possession, his workrate, as always, has been superb. We're going to have one minute of added time.
43: Superb move by the Irons. It starts at the back with a quick interchange between Pask and Potts and ends with Ward chipping an inviting pass toward Parfitt-Williams but it is cut out in the last minute.
41: Tom Holland threads a great ball into Glendon's path but it's just too heavy and Spiegel rushes to clear. Vieira howls in anguish, he's not too happy with his side, that was quite a noise.
37: Josh Pask does superbly to win the ball high up the pitch, he tries to set Brown through but he delays the pass a fraction and Brown is offside. Seconds later it's down the other end of the pitch and Pask is called into defensive action, putting in a great challenge.
35: The game is developing a bit of an edge to it with a lot of niggly fouls here and there. Not sure Steve Potts will mind too much as it's disrupting City's rhythm. In any case, City are commiting just as many fouls as they're suffering.
31: Jorge Intima races down the right-wing and puts in a great cross. Josh Pask half clears the ball, George Glendon swings a boot at it and it's that man again - Dan Potts, who hurls himself at the ball and diverts it away with a brave header.
29: Djair Parfitt-Williams is in great form today as he spins his man and sends a 40-yard cross field pass in Joe Wards direction. Unfortunately it spins off the turf and Gunn gathers.
25: City are growing more and more into the game and their possession almost pays off. Jorge Intima wriggles into the box and shoots fiercely toward the far left corner, his shot beats Spiegel yet Dan Potts stretches to clear the ball off the line.
21: Chance for City as Ashley Smith-Brown flicks on a corner but it falls harmlessly wide.
20: Potts again goes close from a corner, his height is certainly causing the Citizens some problems, however he can't quite get enough on it and it is cleared away at the second attempt.
17: Free kick to City after Lewis Page puts in robust challenge. The ball in creates a moment of panic before it is hooked away.
14: GOAL! 1-0 to the Dev Squad! It's a deserved lead too. Djair Parfitt-Williams picks the ball up on the byline, with little room he does one, two, three stepovers before dinking a cross to back post. Dan Potts jumps highest to head home from close range. An excellent goal.
10: The Dev Squad again threaten, this time from a set piece which is floated toward Dan Potts who steers just over from six yards. It wouldn't have counted anyway as the assistant referee had his flag raised.
7: City are trying to assert their dominance by slowing the game down and controlling possession however the Dev Squad are hounding them at every turn. The ball falls to Grady Diangana on the edge of the box, he winds up to shoot but can't get enough purchase on it. Down the other end Tom Holland test Spiegel with a rasping shot but the goalkeeper does well to cling on to it.
5: A chance for the Irons as Jordan Brown picks the ball up and drives at the City defence. Joe Ward makes a great run put the through-ball is intercepted well by Charlie Oliver. A positive start from the hosts.
2: Lewis Page gets forward and wins his side a corner early on, forcing a City defending to commit and make a challenge. The delivery is swung in but goalkeeper Angus Gunn rises highest to collect.
0: Pre-match handshakes have been conducted and we're about to get under way. The Dev Squad, led by captain Lewis Page, have won the toss and will kick right to left in this first half.
6.48pm: As for tonight's opponents, Manchester City, they currently sit in fifth place in the Barclays U21 Premier League knowing that if they win their two games in hand they could go top, depending on goal difference.
