U18s extend unbeaten start

The Under-18s extended their unbeaten start to the season to a seventh game with a 3-0 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday morning.

West Ham's youngsters have been in fine form, but they had to wait to make their mark at Brighton, with the Seagulls holding the score at 0-0 until after the break.

Indeed, it was Brighton who went closest before half-time when they hit the crossbar, but once Alex Pike's cross forced an own goal from a home defender's head, the result - West Ham's fourth win of the campaign - was never in doubt.

1-0 quickly became 2-0, as Djair Parfitt-Williams collected a throw in, beat two men and fired into the top corner for a fine individual goal.

Sam Howes made a fine save to keep the Hammers' lead at two, then the visitors wrapped up the points when they pressed high up the pitch to win possession back for Jordan Brown to roll into the net.

There was even a chance for a fourth when Parfitt-Williams drove into the box and was brought down, but Brown was denied from the spot.

His miss was not to matter though as an otherwise clinical Hammers ensured their excellent start to the campaign would go on.
