FT - West Ham Utd 0-0 Aston Villa

WEST HAM UNITED v ASTON VILLA
BARCLAYS PREMIER LEAGUE
BOLEYN GROUND
SATURDAY 8 NOVEMBER 2014
KICK-OFF: 3PM
REFEREE: JONATHAN MOSS

FT: West Ham United 0-0 Aston Villa

90+4:
This must surely be the last chance, as Downing floats in a corner from the right. Song's initial effort is blocked and then he appears to be felled in the box, but Moss is having none of it. It's all happening!  It comes back out to Downing, who floats it toward the back stick. The heads go up, Carroll wins it again and Guzan saves once more. Villa survive and there goes the final whistle, the points are shared here at the Boleyn Ground. It was so nearly a fairy tale ending for big Andy Carroll but the Hammers' unbeaten run in the Barclays Premier League does at least go on. We'll bring you all the reaction across our platforms as and when we have it.

90+3: What a chance and what a save! Downing's cross sits up perfectly for Carroll at the far stick, who does everything right, heading back from where the ball has come. But there's Guzan to thrust out that big right hand and claw it away.

90+2: Last throw of the dice for Big Sam, as he throws on Andy Carroll for Mark Noble. Carroll, of course, is making his first appearance since the final day of last season. A late change for Villa too, with Clark on for N'Zogbia.

90: There will be a minimum of four added minutes here. Can the Hammers find a dramatic late winner? Perhaps not, on that evidence, as Cresswell balloons a cross into the stands.

89: Chance! The Hammers work the ball patiently to Downing, who stands up a cross to the far post, but Jenkinson heads at Guzan. 0-0 with time running out now.

87: We're back underway following that delay, and Agbonlahor is booked for a foul on Collins.

86: Either way, Baker hurt himself in the challenge and needs to be stretchered off. Senderos will come on in his place.

85: Howls go up around the Boleyn Ground as referee Jonathan Moss stops a Hammers attack in its tracks for what appears to be no reason at all! He judges Cole to have fouled Baker but there didn't look to be much in that.

82: It's hotting up in the closing stages and Downing makes a rampaging run down the left and his cross deflects up off Lowton, so Cole has to check his run and ends up deflecting the ball onto his head with his arm. Handball.

80: Sakho again! Downing delivers this time and Guzan starts to stray from his line. Sakho connects with his head, but perhaps gets too much on it and the ball goes over the bar.

78: Was that the chance? Collins wins possession with tackle in Agbonlahor inside his own half, releasing Alex Song. He passes to Carlton Cole in the left channel and he hangs a cross up, but Sakho's looping header drops the wrong side of the post. Still 0-0.

75: West Ham make their second change, with Carlton Cole replacing Enner Valencia.

74: Half a chance for Sakho as a searching ball from the back picks him out as he runs off Baker. However, the ball runs away as he tries to control and Guzan picks up the pieces.

72: Play goes to the other end and Villa win a corner after Westwood's cross is headed behind by Cresswell. Westwood will take himself, but Reid heads clear, then Adrian has to improviseto save with his leg after Nolan's clearance cannons off Sanchez.

71: Valencia almost has an opening as he peels into the right channel and Sakho tries to pick him out, but he can't bring the ball under his spell and Villa escape.

68: Cleverley collects the first yellow card of the game after he brings down Sakho just inside the Villa half. Weimann follows him into the book after a show of dissent.

66: A Cresswell cross from the left causes Villa to worry when it comes back out to Valencia, but his shot is blocked by Vlaar before it can trouble Guzan. Meanwhile, West Ham make their first change of the afternoon, with Nolan replacing Kouyate.

64: Sanchez drifts in from the left channel for the visitors and gets past Noble in the middle of the park before sending in a left footed shot which Adrian fields on the bounce.

61: The Villa centre halves continue to stand strong in the face of West Ham's crosses and a clearance from Vlaar leads to a free kick when Collins blocks off Agbonlahor's run.

58: That should have been a corner! Sakho hunts down a ball in the right channel and forces Sissokho to knock behind. However, the linesman deems the final touch to have come off the Hammers man, giving Guzan the chance to clear from the goal kick.

56: Cresswell whips in a wonderfully inviting ball from the left, but it's just behind Valencia and he flicks it out tpo Jenkinson, whose low ball needs an assured block from Vlaar when facing his own goal.

52: Villa almost profit from a stroke of luck in the Hammers box when Collins' clearance thumps off Reid, but the hosts clear.

51; Downing beats the offside line to make a crossing opportunity down the left, but his delivery skips off Lowton's head and Guzan catches.

48: Noble sends a hanging delivery over and Reid jumps, but he's under enough pressure to force the effort to skim off his head and wide.

47: West Ham take advantage of an untimely slip from Lowton to break down the left and Valencia wins a corner.

46: Chance for the Villans right from the off, but Cleverley curls over from the edge of the box with his left foot

4.02pm No changes made and we're back underway.

3.59pm Both sets of players return to the pitch. Since they went in rain has begun to fall over east London

HT: West Ham United 0-0 Aston Villa. That Downing chance was the final action of a goalless first half. After a slow start, the Hammers enjoyed a strong spell in the middle of the half and Guzan had to be at his best to deny Downing when he rifled a shot towards goal. West Ham have seen more of the ball, and Adrian has been largely unworked, although Villa do pose a threat on the break. Join us in 15 minutes to see if we can break the deadlock after half-time.

45+1: Big chance right at the end of the first half. Jenkinson advances down the right and passes inside to Song. The Villa defence have been dragged over to their left, leaving Downing in room to receive Song's ball, but he slices the shot and it flies wide of the mark. He would certainly have wanted to work the goalkeeper there.

45: One minute of added time is signalled.

44: The crowd gets half excited as Collins wins a knockdown from a deep ball into the box, but it's too strong to find Kouyate and Guzan gathers.

40: Free kick to Villa in a dangerous area after Song is adjudged to have dragged down Agbonlahor. N'Zogbia goes for goal, but it hits the wall and Reid can complete the clearance.

39: Adrian is forced into his most taxing action of the half so far, as Weimann shifts the ball onto his left foot and away from Reid. He strikes for goal, but it is more or less straight at Adrian and he parries easily enough.

36: Referee Jonathan Moss brings play back as his linesman flags after N'Zogbia catches Downing late on the touchline. The Frenchman receives a talking to, but no more.

35: Agbonlahor looks to build with N'Zogbia, with the latter trying t jink past Noble, but hi is dispossessed and the danger passes almost before it began.

33: Aston Villa try to grab a foothold in the contest again as Sanchez carries the ball into West Ham territory. He passes out to Cissokho, but the cross is overhit and Cresswell lets it run away for a throw in.

29: Corner to the Hammers and Downing's delivery is a deep one. He's looking for Song, and finds him, but Vlaar comes out really well to block.

28: Downing finds Cresswell in space with an absolute peach of a pass. His cross is blocked by the first man, but Lowton's attempted clearance slices comically off his foot and flies over the crossbar for a corner.

24: West Ham go to the other end immediately and Downing brings an excellent save from Guzan after Sakho shrugged off Baker to get in and cut back. Downing's strike was pure, but Guzan's reactions were spot on as he dived to his right to push away.

24: Half chance for Weimann as Lowton's cross skips off Noble's foot and finds the Austrian with his back to goal. He tries to shoot on the turn but doesn't really catch it and Adrian saves comfortably.

22: Close! Brave from Sakho as he goes up for a header from Cresswell's cross. Guzan has come searching for it, but the Senegal striker beats him to it. However, his header drops wide of the mark. Still 0-0.

18: Almost a horrible moment for Adrian as Reid's backpass bounces towards him and his touch squirts away off his toe. Luckily it runs across goal rather than in and the No13 prevents the corner by kicking clear.

17: West Ham look to be taking the upper hand, but Villa try to make their mark as Agbonlahor takes the ball forward. He tries a shot, but does not catch it right and it dribbled wide.

16: The game is coming to life and Valencia waltzes in down the right and cuts back, but Noble's shot is blocked.

15: West Ham keep the pressure up and Vlaar has to slide in to divert Sakho's dangerous cross to safety as Valencia lurk.

14: Chance at the other end straight away and again Collins is involved! The Hammers win a corner on the right and Collins runs off Sanchez to meet Downing's inswinging delivery at the near post. Guzan is well placed to save.

13: Chance for Agbonlahor. Noble's pass to Kouyate is misplaced and Villa pounce to give the ball to their speedy striker. He gets round the outside of Collins, but cannot keep his shot down, firing over Adrian's crossbar.

11: West Ham look to build down the left again and Song sprays a ball out to Cresswell in space. The reason he has so much room, however, is that he is offside.

8: Again the Hammers work the corner short, with Noble playing a one-two with Downing before delivering. However, he is offside when he gets the return pass and it's a free-kick to the visitors.

7: Good feet there from Valencia to get away from Westwood. He reacts by reaching for Valencia's shirt and drags him down. Valencia takes the free-kick himself, low, and it deflects off the wall for a corner.

6: Corner to West Ham as Downing goes foraging down the right. He takes the corner short to Jenkinson and he delivers towards Noble, but he cannot keep the header down.

5: Fairly quiet opening so far, but Villa have some defending to do as Collins clips a free kick into the box from deep. The heads go up, but Villa emerge with it.

2: Good harrying from Diafra Sakho down the right to win possession back for the Hammers. He passes back to Mark Noble, but his clipped pass looking for Enner Valencia runs through to goalkeeper Brad Guzan.

3pm Mark Noble and Stewart Downing get the game underway.

2.59pm A perfectly observed minute's silence to mark Remembrance Day and we're ready at the Boleyn Ground. Come on you Irons!

2.54pm Mark Noble leads the Hammers out onto the pitch. Kick-off is only moments away now!

Welcome to our live coverage of today's Barclays Premier League game against Aston Villa.

We go into the game looking to extend our unbeaten run of five games.

The Villans are currently 16th, having taken ten points from as many games. Paul Lambert's side have struggled recently in losing their six league games, scoring once in the process.

Sam Allardyce's team are eleven places ahead of Saturday's visitors, sitting in fifth position after drawing 2-2 away at Stoke City having been 2-0 down. Goals from new signing Enner Valencia and Stewart Downing, who has been recalled by England manager Roy Hodgson, salvaged a point.

Last season the Hammers took four points from the Villans, drawing 0-0 at home before securing a 2-0 away win with a brace from Kevin Nolan.
