West Ham United 3-0 Stoke City
Premier League
5 March 2011

West Ham comprehensively beat Stoke City in a dress rehearsal of the pair's FA Cup quarter final tie which was to come one week later.

The Hammers were in control from the off and took the lead when a mix-up between Asmir Begovic and Marc Wilson allowed Demba Ba to collect Mark Noble's through ball and pass into an empty net after 21 minutes.

Just eight minutes later the home side went further in front as Manuel Da Costa leapt to head home Thomas Hitzslperger's free-kick.

The German international then finished the scoring off himself with seven minutes remaining, as he smashed home a loose ball in the penalty area.

The Hammers' joy was turned to despair eight days later however, as they went down 2-1 to the Potters at the Britannia Stadium to crash out of the cup.
