West Ham United 6-0 Barnsley
Premier League
10 January 1998

A double from Samassi Abou helped the Hammers recover from their League Cup exit with a thumping win over Barnsley.

The striker scored the Hammers' only goal in a 2-1 defeat to Arsenal four days earlier but was on hand to banish the blues with two fine strikes in a West Ham goal fest at the Boleyn Ground.

Frank Lampard scored the first before Abou doubled the home side's lead as they went in 2-0 up at half-time. After the break Abou scored again before goals from John Moncur, John Hartson and Stan Lazaridis made sure the scoreline was an emphatic one.
