Barclays Premier League
30 March 2013

West Ham all but secured their Barclays Premier League status for another season when Andy Carroll led them to a deserved 3-1 home win over West Brom.

Carroll headed the Hammers in front from Gary O'Neil's 16th-minute corner before the midfielder ended a swift counter-attack by expertly curling the second into the top left-hand corner just before the half-hour mark.

Into the second half and Carroll scored the goal of the game, volleying James Collins' long ball into the bottom corner to make the game safe. West Brom pulled one back when Graham Dorrans converted a late penalty before the visitors' frustrations boiled over when Youssouf Mulumbu kicked the ball at O'Neil and was sent-off.

Division Two
1 December 1990

West Ham strengthened their position at the top of the Division Two table by beating West Brom 3-1 at the Boleyn Ground on the first day of December 1990.

George Parris got things underway by belting in the opener from 25 yards after 20 minutes. Four minutes later it was 2-0 as Trevor Morley scored.

Into the second half and Frank McAvennie's dipping volley made it 3-0 before the Baggies pulled one back through Mike Ford. West Brom continued to press and Ludek Miklosko was forced to make a series of saves, while Colin West blazed an 86th-minute penalty wide for the visitors.

Billy Bonds' West Ham would end the 1990/91 season on a high by being promoted to the First Division in second place behind champions Oldham Athletic.

Full Members Cup
9 November 1988

Leroy Rosenior enjoyed his finest moment in a West Ham shirt as he smashed in four goals to lead the Hammers to victory over West Brom in the short-lived Full Members Cup - a competition introduced when English clubs were banned from European competition in the late 1980s.

Just 5,960 fans were present to see Rosenior's performance in this emphatic first-round victory, however. Irish striker David Kelly was also on target for the hosts.

West Ham travelled to Watford in the second round 13 days later, but were eliminated in a penalty shootout following a 1-1 draw.

Martin Peters plundered the only hat-trick of his illustrious West Ham career in a 4-0 home win over West Brom on the final day of August 1968.

Then the FA Cup holders, the Baggies were dismantled by Ron Greenwood's men, who went ahead through Peters' first goal on 19 minutes.

The England midfielder doubled his tally on 68 minutes before Harry Redknapp converted Geoff Hurst's cross to make it 3-0 nine minutes later. Peters then completed the scoring with ten minutes remaining as West Ham climbed to third in the table.

Brian Dear scored a record-setting five goals in the space of just 21 minutes either side of half-time as West Ham brushed aside West Brom at the Boleyn Ground.

The centre forward, then aged just 21 and only in the team due to an injury to John Dick, Dear scored after 44, 53, 56, 59 and 64 minutes. Prior to his quintet of strikes, Martin Peters had put West Ham in front on the half-hour mark.

Jeff Astle did pull a goal back for the Baggies on the stroke of half-time with the score at 2-0, but the vast majority of the 27,706 fans inside the Boleyn Ground went home happy.

West Ham United 4-1 West Bromwich Albion
Division One
26 September 1959

West Ham had finished sixth in the first season back in the First Division in 1958/59 and they rose to that same position after thumping West Bromwich Albion 4-1 at the Boleyn Ground.

Mike Grice put the Hammers in front before Phil Woosnam scored the hosts' second goal in front of a 30,570-strong crowd. Winger Malcolm Musgrove then added the gloss to a superb home victory with two goals of his own.

Ted Fenton's side could unfortunately not maintain their fine early season form and ended the campaign in 14th place, losing 3-2 at The Hawthorns in the return fixture on 9 March 1960.
