The West Ham United captain played a key role in the Hammers' two wins in August - scoring the solitary goal in the opening day win against Aston Villa. After coming close in the game away at Swansea City, he then captained a young side to a comfortable 2-0 win against Crewe Alexandra, where he again was unlucky not to find the net.
Nolan obtained 41.1% of the vote, with summer signing Mohamed Diame in second place with 28.7%. Winston Reid was third with 16.6%, followed by Ricardo Vaz Te and Modibo Maiga.
