Phoenix Sports welcome Trust visit

West Ham United Community Sports Trust has set up a new partnership with Phoenix Sports Football Club in Kent.

Based in Bexleyheath, Phoenix Sports run 34 teams from Under-7s through to Veterans. These comprise mini soccer teams for Under-7s to Under-10s, Under-11 to Under-17 sides competing in the Selkent and Bexley Junior Leagues and Under-13 to Under-18 teams playing in the Kent Youth League.

The Trust travelled to Kent to work with a group of more than 30 Phoenix Sports players at a special week-long football course in August, where they received coaching from FA-qualified staff.

Phoenix Sports FC chairman Andy Mortlock said the event had been a huge success and that further courses would be held in the future.

"The week was excellent for everybody involved," said Mortlock. "The standard of coaching has been second to none and I know all the boys have taken on a lot of valuable information and skills from the West Ham United Community Sports Trust coaches.

"It was great to see so many of the Phoenix Sports FC registered players from all ages on the course and I am sure this training has improved them all which will benefit the whole club.

"I am very excited to continually develop our partnership with the Trust in the future and look forward to all future delivery."

Trust football development officer Bryan Glover was also delighted with how the course went for everyone involved.

"I am very pleased to have established a strong partnership with Phoenix Sports Football Club and I am sure it will continue to develop in the near future," said Glover.

"Our first course has been a great success. Participants and the Trust coaches have given me nothing but positive feedback and that they cannot wait for the next course to take place.

"I would like to thank Phoenix FC for hosting us and giving West Ham CST the opportunity to develop our delivery in Kent."
