Moore than a Football Club

West Ham United showed why it is Moore than a Football Club by entertaining thousands of people at two big community events.

The club's Community Sports Trust laid on a variety of games and Olympic-themed sports activities at the Mayor's Newham Show and Barking and Dagenham Town Show, while also offering visitors healthy living advice and the chance to have a free health MOT.

Scores of youngsters leapt at the opportunity to impress the club's community coaches with their footballing abilities, while many also showed off their tennis skills as part of a project being run jointly by West Ham with the Lawn Tennis Association.

"We were overwhelmed with interest," said the Community Sports Trust's Mick King. "A lot of people congratulated us on being back in the Premier League and wished us every success with our Olympic Stadium bid."

The Mayor's Newham Show and Barking and Dagenham Town Show attracted thousands of local people with a mixture of music, sport and other entertainment as the sun shone on east London in the lead-up to the London 2012 Olympic Games.
