Kids can play at the Boleyn

George Parris is once again staging his annual football event for youngsters to play at the Boleyn Ground.

Details have been confirmed for the seventh year of the seven-a-side mini-soccer tournament hosted by the former Hammers favourite. The 2012 event will take place on Sunday 3 June 2012 with separate tournaments for U7s, U8s, U9s, U10's, U11s and U12s.

Last summer's event was another great success with teams from across England, Wales and Republic of Ireland, getting to play on the hallowed turf.

Demand is expected to be high again when youngsters get another opportunity to play at the stadium at the end of this season. The competition format will be similar to before with group matches followed by knockout stages and 'friendly' festival matches for the younger age groups. Matches will be based on small-sided soccer rules.

As before, George will host the day's festivities and there will be trophies for the winners and runners-up of each competition in the older age groups and medals for all the participants in the U7s and U8s friendly festivals. Every player will receive a certificate to commemorate their visit.

A visit to the dressing rooms is all part of the day and the teams will line up in the tunnel at the beginning of the tournament. The player's names will then be announced over the stadium's PA system as they emerge past the dug-outs and out on to the pitch graced by the West Ham United first team. Each player will receive a signed certificate from George to commemorate the day. There are trophies for the winners/runners-up in the older age groups and medals for all participants in the U7s and U8s friendly festivals.

Once again the event will be used to raise money for the Great Ormond St Children's Hospital, via raffles, and so far these events have raised more than £17,000 for this very deserving charity.
