West Ham iFC come in second

West Ham iFC completed their 2010/11 Internet Football Association (IFA) League season with a fine 3-0 home win over Watford at Flanders Playing Fields in East Ham.

The supporters' team ended the campaign in second place, losing out on the title to champions Motherwell.

The Hammers won 14 of their 20 league matches, drawing two and losing just four, scoring 83 goals and conceding only 33. Captain Will Bush also finished as leading scorer with 25 goals to his name.

The idea behind the IFA League is that fans' teams try to play other fans' teams on the day of the actual league meeting between the two sides. Sadly, as there are only a couple of fans' sides of Barclays Premier League clubs, the Hammers played supporters' sides from other leagues in their region.

The only real structure to the league is that it is organised between managers and that there is a limit of 20 games that can count towards the league table. However, the real aim of the league is not about winning and losing, but about bringing rival sets of fans together.

There is an annual tournament for all the fans' teams in Leeds in July, and the Hammers reached the semi-final stage two seasons ago.

Any official fans' team can enter the league and it is not divided into geographical regions. The Hammers could theoretically play a Scottish Second Division side if they so wished, but they tend to play against local London and south-east sides including Watford, Cambridge United, MK Dons and Dagenham and Redbridge.

The squad included the following players: Richie Heywood, Vinnie White, Matt Dilworth, Will Bush, Stew Heywood, Stuart Crane, Andy Wilder, Steve Eustace, John Heywood, Tony Mehegan, Sam Miles, Colin Wells, Dan Jarvis, Jacob Chilton, Jim Soave, Luke Gray and John Sullivan
