Lomas hails derby victory

Steve Lomas was delighted after his reserves returned to winning ways with a polished performance in a 2-0 win away to Charlton Athletic.

The former Hammers captain was pleased with the way his players took control of the derby before scoring a goal in each half through George Moncur and Danny Subuola.

"It was difficult conditions to play football, it was a tough pitch and it was blowy conditions but I thought they were very good.

"I was pleased after the disappointment of last week's defeat against wolves when we didn't compete well enough off the ball. We did that and when you do that you earn the right to play. We have got good ability among the lads and it could possibly have been three or four more."

Lomas had special mention for goalscorers Subuola and Moncur's efforts on Tuesday. "Danny did well up front on his own, he worked hard and got his rewards. I have been telling Moncs he has to get in the box more and score goals and he is doing that.

"The pleasing aspect was the manner in which the boys went about the game and how they policed themselves and worked hard off the ball and earned the right to play football."
