After overwhelming support for the return of the Hammerettes, the club is pleased to confirm half-time dancers will be back on Saturday
The club are trialling two different groups with one team performing this weekend against Bolton Wanderers and the others for the visit of Wolverhampton Wanderers on Tuesday 23 February.
Thousands of votes, emails and correspondence were received, with 95 per cent of supporters calling for the half-time entertainment to come back to the Boleyn. The online poll came as the club continues to look for ways to improve the matchday experience for supporters and all suggestions are welcome.
With huge nationwide attention, including coverage on TV, online and in national papers, the club would welcome interest from organisations wanting to sponsor the half-time dancers.
Anyone interested in getting involved in sponsorship for this or any of the other exciting matchday opportunities, should email [email protected] with 'Half-time entertainment' in the subject field.
The Hammerettes made their first appearance back on 17 January 1970 at the first division fixture against Manchester United. A popular addition, the official matchday programme carried a feature that had the simple heading of: 'The Hammerettes'.
A black and white photo appeared in the next programme against Coventry City on 7 February 1970 before the first colour picture was used in the matchday programme against Tottenham Hotspur on 17 October.
