Awards to remember 1980

Former West Ham United midfielder Geoff Pike is looking forward to celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Hammers' 1980 FA Cup success at the club's second annual End of Season Awards dinner.

Pike wore the No11 shirt on the day Trevor Brooking headed Division Two West Ham to a shock 1-0 victory against Division One Arsenal at Wembley on 10 May 1980.

Pike will join his team-mates at the gala evening, which will be held in the lavish surroundings of the Grand Ballroom at the London Hilton on Park Lane on Tuesday 4 May 2010.

The 53-year-old, who now works as a Regional Coach Development Manager at the Football Association - where Sir Trevor is also based - is looking forward to rubbing shoulders with his old colleagues.

"I think there might be one or two glasses of wine that pass the lips on the evening! It will certainly be great to see everybody again. We still see each other fairly regularly, but to celebrate the 30th anniversary will be terrific. Hopefully not, but it might be the last time we ever win the FA Cup!"

It promises to be a special night with The X Factor star Stacey Solomon already booked as part of the night's entertainment, which will also feature an array of player awards including Hammer of the Year, young player of the year and Goal of the Season. Tickets are going fast, with prices at £2,500 for a table of ten with a limited number of individual places available at £250 per person.

Proceeds from the Gala Dinner will go to the club's Academy, which produced Pike and fellow 1980 FA Cup winners Brooking, Alvin Martin, Frank Lampard and Paul Allen.
