Barclays Premier League
Manchester City v West Ham United
Eastlands
Monday 28 September
8pm
Referee: Chris Foy
WHUTV - FULL REACTION
Full time
91 min - They have seen plenty of the ball in these last ten minutes but seem unable to break down the City back line.
90 min - There will be at least three more minutes here now. Can West Ham get one more goal back?
89 min - Michael Johnson comes on to replace Barry in what will surely be the game's final change.
84 min - Free-kick to West Ham on the right after Hines after Da Costa combine well. Diamanti curls it in and Cole puts the header over.
83 min - Bubbles is the next song to be sung but the away support, who really have been superb this evening.
81 min - City make their first change as Roque Santa Cruz is brought on for his debut. Shaun Wright-Phillips is the man to make way.
79 min - Green has to be alert to tip a looping shot over the bar. Bellamy goes down so the ball is put into touch.
77 min - The action on the pitch has quietened down somewhat but there is still plenty of noise coming from away fans, who are singing claret and blue army non-stop.
71 min - Double change for the visitors here. Jimenez is making way for Zavon Hines and Kovac leaves the field for Kovac. That should add some extra pace to the Hammers attack, but they will need to act fast if they are to help their side get back into the game.
69 min - We have just been told there are 42,745 fans inside Eastlands tonight. I would guess that around 1,200 of those are here supporting Zola's side.
67 min - So close! A Diamanti corner is played back to him by Noble and he hits a fierce curling shot that Given is forced to punch over the bar.
65 min - West Ham are not lying down here, though, and a good burst forward from Parker sees him tee up Noble whose shot is stopped by a diving save from Given.
64 min - And they come close to as Wright-Phillips bursts down the right before crossing to Bellamy. His attempted volley flies well over.
62 min - After a positive ten minute spell at the begining of the half, the wind seems to have gone from West Ham's sails somewhat. They need to be careful here as another City goal really would kill the game.
61 min - GOAL! Bellamy swings it in and Tevez plants a firm header past Green. Once again, though, he refuses to celebrate and just raises a single arm in the air.
60 min - Referee Chris Foy has been busy tonight and awards another free-kick to City in a dangerous position.
59 min - Bridge takes the bookings to one a side for a late tackle on Kovac.
56 min - Corner to City. It is taken by Bellamy but it flies past everyone and out to safety.
55 min - Diamanti becomes the first player to be booked for kicking the ball away.
53 min - Corner to City as their first attack of the half sees Bellamy's cross fly into Da Costa and behind. Ilunga is there to head the flag-kick clear though.
52 min - Jimenez goes on a jinking run past four City players but his shot is blocked. Moments later, a Bridge backpass so nearly puts Cole in but Given gets to the ball first.
50 min - More pressure from the visitors as a Noble corner flies straight across the six-yard line and out for a goal-kick. A very promising start to the second period from the Hammers.
49 min - Parker is fouled just inside the City half and West Ham are awarded the free-kick. Noble floats it in but Lescott beats Cole to the ball in the air.
48 min - Corner to West Ham after some neat foot-work from Jimenez makes De Jong put it behind.
47 min - No changes by either team at the break it appears so it is as you were with a 4-5-1 from the Hammers playing a 4-4-2 from City.
46 min - Tevez and Bellamy get us underway in the second half.
During the half-time break the West Ham subs have been warming up. I would guess that if the scores stay like this we will be seeing at least one of those faces on the pitch before too long.
Half time - It is the end of what has been an entertaining first half here at Eastlands. It did not look good when Tevez gave the home side an early lead but the visitors have rallied and got themselves back into the game. They will need to find another goal after the break it they are to leave Eastlands with anything, though.
45 min - The home side win a corner. Petrov, who has had a superb first half, curls it in. Green half clears it and Noble is forced to turn Tevez's effort behind for another corner.
45 min - We will have at least another two minutes of added time at the end of the first half.
42 min - Another stop from the Hammers goalkeepr, who dived low to his right to keep out a header from Bellamy.
39 min - A superb save by Green, who rushed from his goal to dive at the feet of Tevez after he had been played in by partner Bellamy.
32 min - GOAL! The home side re-take the lead as Petrov curls the set-piece into the bottom right-hand corner.
31 min - Danger here as Manchester City have a free-kick right on the edge of the Hammers of the area. Jimenez was adjudged to have nudged Nigel De Jong in the back.
30 min - Corner to Manchester City as Ilunga is forced to hack the ball behind from a Petrov cross.
28 min - Well that goal seems to have changed the whole atmosphere inside the stadium and it is West Ham's fans who are making all of the noise now. Faubert crosses for Cole, whose header is caught by the diving save of Given.
24 min - GOAL! Noble takes it, Lescott heads it clear as far Kovac, whose volley is flicked in by Cole at the far post. What a response from the Hammers!
23 min - Noble is fouled 30 yards from goal to give West Ham a free-kick and a great chance to apply some pressure to the City goal here.
22 min - Great tackle by Manuel Da Costa to mark his first Premier League start. The central defender slid in perfectly to take the ball off Bellamy's toes.
19 min - The away support have found their voices once more a rendition of 'Twist and shout' is getting them dancing in their seats. Their team seem to have settled now and are starting to put a few passes together.
17 min - Petrov has a shot from the edge of area from a Tevaz cut-back. Green's positioning is good, though, and he makes an easy save.
16 min - West Ham have their first shot of the game. A neat move forward sees Noble pick up the ball and shoot from 25 yards. It takes a slight deflection but Shay Given is there to smother it.
15 min - Tevez is really up for this tonight and he goes cloes again. Shaun Wright-Phillips squares a pass to him and the former Hammer of the Year tries to blast it in the top corner. The effort whistles over the bar, though.
13 min - Faubert is down clutching his ankle and the game is stopped. He gets to his feet and it looks as though he will be alright to continue.
9 min - Tevez comes within inches of doubling his and City's tally with a left-footed shot on the turn. Thankfully, it flies two inches wide of Green's goal.
8 min - Well that start has not done much to help the noise levels in West Ham's favour. The home support are clearly enjoying cheering on their new-look team and that goal has given them even more reason to get vocal.
6 min - City come forward once more and Green gets down smartly to smother a long-range effort from Wayne Bridge.
5 min - GOAL! The home side take the lead with a simple goal. Petrov broke down the left and rolled it across the face of the goal where Tevez was on hand to prod into an empty net. The City No32 ran straight to the Hammers fans to signal he was not going to celebrate and was roundly clapped by the travelling support.
4 min - The home side, meanwhile, look like they are playing in a 4-4-2 formation with Bellamy and Tevez playing together up front.
2 min - It looks as though West Ham are going to play 4-5-1 tonight with Cole on his own up top. Luis Jimenez and Diamanti supporting from the flanks.
1 min - Alessandro Diamanti and Carlton Cole get the game going.
8pm - The formalities are over and West Ham will be attacking the goal to my left hand side in the first half.
7.59pm - The teams are out the away support to my right greet their team with a chant of Bubbles. Considering this is a Monday night game in the north-west there does not seem to be bad support here for the Hammers. As the teams are read out the two Manchester City strikers get very different receptions. I will leave you to guess who got cheered and who did not.
7.57pm - And here come the two sets of players. West Ham need to do something they have not done at Eastlands since April 2003 if they are to win tonight.
7.55pm - Five minutes to go until kick-off and both teams are back in their respective dressing rooms. On the pitch, the huge ESPN banner is being carried around the pitch. Fatboy Slim's 'Right here right now' welcomes the two teams on to the pitch.
Good evening from the City of Manchester Stadium.
The teams are in and Gianfranco Zola has made three changes to the team that lost to Bolton Wanderers in the League Cup. Julien Faubert comes in for Jonathan Spector at right-back, Luis Jimenez is fit-again and replaces Kieron Dyer, while leading scorer Carlton Cole takes the place of Zavon Hines, who drops to the bench. Junior Stanislas is fit enough for a place among the substitutes, where he is joined by three other Academy products in the shape of Bondz 'Gala, Josh Payne and Hines.
Matthew Upson and Danny Gabbidon are both ruled out with minor calf injuries, while Dyer has a slight muscle strain. Guillermo Franco travelled with the squad but is still short of match fitness.
The home side have Micah Richards and Roque Santa Cruz back on the bench, while Martin Petrov takes the place of Stephen Ireland, who is still feeling the effects of his injury picked up in their Carling Cup win over Fulham.
