West Ham United are pleased to announce the signing Davide Ferrari from Brescia Calcio on an initial season-long loan deal with a view to a permanent transfer.
The 17-year-old, whose preferred position is as an attacking full-back, went straight into the reserves' squad for Tuesday's Barclays Premier Reserve League South match with Birmingham City. He more than impressed, playing the first half at left-back before switching to the other flank until being substituted in the 77th minute.
"It is fantastic to be here, it is like a dream," Ferrari said. "I am very happy to be in London. I am privileged to train under Gianfranco Zola as he is one of my idols.
"I like to attack as a full-back and I like to score goals but first my main aim is to be in the first-team squad and to do well for the club."
Ferrari was signed before the transfer deadline but his arrival could only be announced once international clearance was received. The club are grateful to the FA and Premier League for their help.
