Substitute Danny Purdy was unable to prevent the Republic of Ireland's Under-17s from falling to a 2-1 defeat by Sweden at the friendly Syrenka International Cup tournament in Poland on Wednesday.
Purdy, who played a full 80 minutes for the Irish in their 2-1 loss to Russia on Tuesday, was sent on as a second-half replacement with his country already trailing in Lodz.
The 16-year-old Academy striker, who joined West Ham United from Dublin-based Crumlin United in the summer, is the son of former Irish U21 international Richie Purdy.
Against the Swedes, Ireland fell two goals down through goals from Robin Tranberg and Amin Nazari before halving their deficit with a strike from Millwall youngster Aidan O'Brien.
Having lost both of their Group B matches, Sean McCaffrey's side will complete their Syrenka commitments with a fixture against Romania on Friday evening.
