Robert Hall played his first full 80 minutes for England Under-17s as they won 4-0 against Azerbaijan in a 2010 UEFA European Under-17 Championship qualifying match, a result which earned them a spot in next spring's Elite Round.
The West Ham United forward, still only 16, had scored twice off the bench in the previous 6-2 win against Kazakhstan to earn his starting berth. This time Connor Wickham, already part of the Ipswich Town first team, scored a hat-trick while the fourth came from Benik Afobe.
The victory confirmed England's place as one of the top two nations in the Group 1 mini-tournament being held in Azerbaijan before Saturday's final qualifier against Serbia, who have four points from their first two fixtures. Hall was a late call-up to the squad having originally been named on standby.
