Ladies pick up a point

West Ham United Ladies secured a hard-fought goalless draw with Portsmouth on Sunday to ensure all three Hammers teams that visited the south coast left unbeaten.

Tony Marshall's side's stalemate followed wins for the men's Under-16 and Under-18 teams on Saturday and helped to ensure the Ladies stretched their unbeaten start to the FA Tesco Women's Premier League to eleven games.

Marshall's team had chances to win it with Gemma Shepherd a constant threat and going close with two one-on-ones in the first half. Clare Rogers also had a great chance to seal all three points with ten minutes to go but could only fire her shot straight at the Pompey goalkeeper.

The result leaves the Hammers in second place in the league standings, six points behind early pace-setters Barnet. The Ladies return to action next Sunday with a trip to Brighton and Hove Albion.
