Guille Franco has been named in Mexico's 20-man squad for their vital upcoming 2010 World Cup qualifiers against El Salvador and Trinidad and Tobago.
Having yet to feature for the Hammers, it remains to be seen whether Franco will be able to travel to North America after the weekend. Javier Aguirre's side go into their final two CONCACAF Round 4 group fixtures knowing four points will be enough to send them to next summer's finals in South Africa.
Mexico sit second in the six-team standings, a point behind Jonathan Spector's United States. Honduras sit third, two points behind, with Costa Rica fourth, three points back. Fifth-placed El Salvador are still in the running, but must beat Mexico and Honduras in their final two matches to have any chance of finishing in the top three.
The three leading finishers will qualify automatically, while the fourth-placed country will take on the fifth-placed South American finisher, which is currently Argentina.
Mexico will tackle El Salvador at the Azteca Stadium in Mexico City on Saturday 10 October before travelling to Port of Spain to face Trinidad and Tobago four days later.
Franco has been a central figure in reviving Mexico's qualifying campaign following an indifferent start under former England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson.
El Tri lost three of their opening four matches, but have won their last four - including an impressive 2-1 victory over Spector's US at the Azteca in August.
The 32-year-old Hammers striker, who played 80 minutes in the US win, fired important goals in the 2-1 home win over Trinidad and Tobago in June and a 3-0 success in Costa Rica last month.
Argentina-born Franco, who has scored six goals in 18 internationals for his adopted nation, is one of two English-based players named in Aguirre's squad, with Arsenal forward Carlos Vela being the other.
Ironically, Franco and Vela could come up against one another when the Gunners visit the Boleyn Ground on 25 October.
