It may have only been for a matter of minutes but Savio is up and running as a West Ham United player.
The Germany Under-20 international joined the club this week and received an early taste of the Barclays Premier League with his late run-out against Hull City. Savio entered the fray in the 86th minute as a replacement for the outstanding David Di Michele and, with the crowd right behind him, was able to help the team close out a fine 2-0 victory.
With Gianfranco Zola hinting at potential squad strengthening to come but also stressing that "I am very happy about the team that I have got", he acknowledged that it was an extra positive to be able to give Savio his debut. "It was a good time to bring him on. He is a good boy, he has good quality. He just needs to settle down and he will be an important player."
