Brown up for cup test

Under-18 captain Jordan Brown is relishing the opportunity to lead West Ham United to FA Youth Cup success at Plymouth Argyle this evening.

The left-back has been in good form this season, missing just one of the Hammers 14 FA Premier Academy League fixtures in 2009/10.

The 18-year-old has also made two competitive starts for Alex Dyer's reserve team, but this week his focus is solely on progressing to the fourth round of the FA Youth Cup.

Carr's youngsters travelled to Devon on Tuesday ahead of the tie at Home Park, where a bumper crowd is expected to turn out to watch the Hammers attempt to stunt the Pilgrims' progress.

"Everyone is up for it," confirmed Brown. "When you are a schoolboy, you always hear about the Youth Cup, so now you're a scholar, it's your chance to play in it.

"Hopefully the nerves will be settled by the time we go out there. We're much more together as a team now, so hopefully we'll work well together on the pitch and do well.

"Everyone is up for it, and it's a game where we're going to need everyone to be at the top of their game."

After seeing a number of his team-mates captain the side earlier in the season, Brown was handed the armband in mid-September, and has worn it ever since.

"Hopefully Tony will give me the captaincy again, as it would be great for me to lead the team out at such a big stadium. I want to lead by example and have a good game, the same as everyone else."
