Community courses still open

Bookings are still being taken for young footballers who would like to take part in West Ham United Community Sports Trust summer holiday courses.

The courses - with the last ones ending on Friday 28 August - provide a safe and friendly environment for children of all abilities aged between 5-15 years, with the emphasis placed on fun, enjoyment and participation. Morning sessions will see youngsters coached techniques to enable them to acquire new skills, with afternoons consisting of structured games and matches.

Mick King, West Ham United Community Sports Trust CEO, said: "It has been a very successful summer so far with good attendances for the courses at all ten locations across east London and Essex. Our coaches have been particularly struck by the enthusiasm and positive attitude of the children taking part."

New for the summer of 2009 is the introduction of new multi-sport sessions, during which all children will have the opportunity to try different athletics disciplines aimed at improving their agility, co-ordination and speed.

Places are still available for courses being held in Basildon, Chelmsford, Dagenham, Romford, Stanford-le-Hope, Thurrock and Upminster. They will start at 9.30am and finish at 2.30pm each day.

Children have the option of attending between two and five days of coaching. Five-day courses are £55 per child, four-day courses £45 per child, three-day courses £35 per child and two-day courses £25 per child.
