Fans will be pleased to learn that planned London Underground improvement work at Upton Park station on Sunday 23 August has been cancelled.
Transport for London confirmed the news on Tuesday afternoon which means that the station will be open for the Barclays Premier League visit of Tottenham Hotspur. "[District line] works between Barking and Upminster, and on the Hammersmith and City line, have now been cancelled on this day." However, the Jubilee line will be closed throughout the day.
As it stands, the Hammersmith and City line and the District line will be shut between Barking and Whitechapel for the home game with Liverpool on Saturday 19 September. This means that Plaistow, Upton Park and East Ham tube stations will have no underground service running to them.
