An all-action midfield player who can also operate in wide areas, Nick Barrett joined West Ham United in 2006 at the age of 14. Born on 21 July 1992, Barrett names England's David Beckham and Steven Gerrard as his football idols.
Despite being injured at the start of the 2008/09 season, the 16-year-old still managed to make eleven appearances for the Hammers' Under-18 side. He also travelled to Hong Kong in May 2009 for the IP HKFC Global Soccer Sevens.
Barrett captained the Under-18s during a pre-season international tournament staged in the Netherlands before taking his place as a mainstay of Tony Carr's side for the 2009/10 campaign.
