England exclusive on WHUTV

WHUTV was there as James Tomkins, Junior Stanislas and Freddie Sears helped England to run out 2-0 winners against Italy in an Under-20 friendly on Tuesday.

The Hammers trio were all in good spirits after the Loftus Road contest, which saw Ciaran Clark and Daniel Sturridge get the goals and all three of the club's young internationals take the chance to shine. Tomkins said: "We can take a lot of positives out of the game. All the lads did really well and we can take that form back to the club. It is a great confidence boost for all three of us."

After a lively 90 minutes in attack, Sears added: "It was a good performance from the team. We started slow but picked up the pace and did well after that. Playing 90 minutes is a big help. I felt a bit tired at the end but the match fitness is coming back."

Stanislas had to be content with a place on the bench but he made an impact for the last half-hour or so of the contest - creating plenty of bright moments. "Just to get on and play for your country is always good," he said. "I have been given my chance for West Ham and hopefully I will get more chances to come."
