Relive 'best game' on WHUTV

With 76 minutes played against champions Manchester United on Saturday 29 December 2007, few home fans inside the Boleyn Ground could have predicted what was coming next.

The visitors were 1-0 up thanks to Cristiano Ronaldo's early goal and, despite the eventual Footballer of the Year missing a penalty, looked on course to record yet another win on their march to a successful title defence. However, Sir Alex Ferguson's men had reckoned without a thrilling fightback that saw substitute Anton Ferdinand level matters on 77 minutes before Matthew Upson chose the perfect time to score his first goal with a commanding header five minutes later to seal a memorable 2-1 victory. Unsurprisingly the game has been declared the best of the season in a poll of whufc.com users and you can watch extended highlights whenever you like in the WHUTV Premier Class channel.

In all, 74.5 per cent of the near 3,000 fans who took part in the whufc.com survey decided this game was the match of the season from a shortlist of five. To put it in context, the closest rival was the 1-0 home success against Liverpool on 30 January when Mark Noble kept his nerve in the final seconds to convert the winner from the penalty spot. A total of 11.8 per cent voted for that game with the 3-0 away win to Reading back on 15 September coming in third with 6 per cent. The next best was the 5-0 success at Derby County on 10 November - 4.9 per cent enjoyed that the most - while 2.8 per cent claim Freddie Sears' debut and winning goal at home to Blackburn Rovers on 15 March will live longest in the memory.
