Freddie Sears is looking to add to his goal tally this pre-season as he looks to be as sharp as he can for the new campaign.
The young striker - who has just returned from international duty with the England Under-19's - got off the mark against Thurrock in Saturday's pre-season friendly. Now he is looking to get as much match action under his belt as he can as well as aiming to hit the target on the goals front, starting with Peterborough United this evening. "It was good to get on the scoresheet in my first game back for West Ham," said the 18-year-old.
"The match was a good run-out for me, I was able to play out a full 90 minutes. I am feeling good - I played three games in a week for England so another match now has helped me out and with just a few weeks to go before the start of the season, I just want to be involved as much as I can. We have some more pre-season friendlies coming up - so if I can play a part in those games, that means I can work to be as sharp as I can for the start."
Sears said he will be hoping to catch up with team-mate Zavon Hines on the goalscoring front after the midfielder bagged his third goal in as many pre-season games. Hines notched up his second penalty in a week against Thurrock, which followed his spot-kick against Billericay and a goal against Hampton and Richmond. "Zav's got three in three now, he's looking good," he added.
